Modern Bride
THE PROJECT
Our Modern Bride embraces a bold, feminine look without leaning too traditional. A crucial element within our shoot was color. We strayed away from leaning too neutral. These looks are meant to inspire women who might not want a classic wedding look, but still want to feel just as bridal and beautiful on their big day.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
This project pushed me out of my comfort zone given I’d never worked on bridal editorial before. Jenna Bechtholt (my creative partner in crime) on the other hand, is a professional! She’s a Seattle-based wedding photographer and so familiar with what is on trend within the industry. Jenna wanted to collaborate on bridal editorial and break away from traditional bridal attire. We challenged ourselves creatively by embracing a soft yet bold and feminine aesthetic without leaning too traditional. Our looks leaned into jumpsuits, pants and a few textured pieces that reinforced bridal but gave it a bit of a modern twist. We wanted to stray away from accessories like a traditional veil and pursued the idea of integrating a lace-adorned cape and an ombre veil. A crucial element within our shoot was color. We wanted to avoid being too neutral (which is extremely trendy in the wedding industry at the moment). Integrating colorful accessories, makeup and vibrant florals added a bit more personality to our brides. And so, our Modern Bride was born.
